Graduate Research Assistant: Missouri Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, University of

Missouri-Columbia, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Science, Columbia, MO

  • Designed and conducted a research project to investigate:

  • The vulnerability of Missouri fish species to climate and land use change.

  • The representation of Missouri fish species within the states conservation networks.

  • Created maps and performed spatial analysis using GIS programs

  • Updated and maintained the states invertebrate atlas database

  • Developed models for predicting rare and threatened invertebrate distributions

  • Reviewed and synthesized literature for species data files.

Field Survey Contractor: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Madison, WI

  • Planned and conducted surveys for the endangered Hine’s emerald dragonfly

  • Performed habitat and ecological community assessment

  • Utilized GPS and computer based mapping to develop distribution maps

  • Filed scientific reports in accordance with Wisconsin DNR and US Fish and Wildlife Service protocol

  • Developed a predictive model of potential  Hine’s emerald dragonfly habitat for the state of Wisconsin

Restoration Ecology Intern: Madison Audubon Society: Faville Grove, Lake Mills, WI

  • Conducted habitat management activities:

  • Removal of invasive species using a variety of tools including chainsaw, brush cutter, chemicals, shovels, girdlers, and torches

  • Seed collection for a wide variety of native prairie plants

  • Assisted in the planting of new restorations

  • Assisted in conducting controlled burns

  • Performed ecological monitoring after extreme flooding event

Completed the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse wetland delineation workshop.
